A way to help the artisans is done by the acquisition of crafts that constitutes and important form of increasing their incomes and allows them to continue with the next production cycle to assure self-employment sources. The acquisition system has five Storing Centers located in the states of Jalisco, Michoacán, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí and Mexico City, where the purchases of the surrounding states are made. The criterion for the acquisition is made by the quality of the production, its cost, and the demand for those crafts. The acquisition of crafts is supplemented with the purchase in rural areas, especially where the indigenous towns are settled.

Craft competitions

The organization of competitions of popular art allows stimulating the creativity of the artisans that is distinguished for the preservation of the technique, the rescue and the innovation of the crafts, by granting cash prices. The modalities of the competitions are: local, state, regional and national and they embrace all the production branches. The annual program of competitions considers the preservation of techniques, the impulse to the artistic abilities of the artisans and it promotes the gender equality; it also searches the sustainable use of the materials of their natural environment.

Training and technical consultantship to artisans

The training and technical consultantship to artisans are focused to improve the quality and the design of the craft production to adapt them to the necessities and the customer’s requirements. Through training and technical consultantship, it is looked to grant the artisans the elements that will allow them to improve the products in their designs and manufacturing, the technique, the materials and the working tools, as well as the preservation of natural environment.
